    Quality Great Features

I purchased these to go along with my resently installed MXT 275. Unfortunately by the time they arrived the forest and trails were closed due to the virus so I have not been able to put them through their paces. I do wish you would offer all accessories at time of sale so one can include them in the free shipping. After reading the manual I saw the LXADP DUAL PIN Charger witch is great for traveling but shipping was more than the charger so I passed. Also if you made the dual pin charger in 12 volt or USB would be great for space saving for us with little room like in my 2006 Jeep TJ.

    Great distance

had the radios about a year now. they work very well. only problem is you need extra batteries for a long day out. the rechargeable batteries that come with it will only last 4 hours or so. we use them at the campground for when the kids go out to run around. we've had them work in the neighborhood for 2 miles. and have never been out of range on vacation or in the campgrounds. they work best when cell phone signal is limited as a backup to get a hold of each other.

    Great Value, Design & Features

We just bought this and already am very pleased with the purchase. The camouflage design makes it unique and great for being out in the woods, no shiny buttons to catch a glare. The radios works great and we especially love the weather channels. We bought ours for camping as well as emergencies, and this meets & exceeds our needs. Requesting a license from the FCC is a bit of a pain (they are slow moving), but otherwise everything about this radio set is all thumbs up. Our set came with headset, charger base that plugs in wall or with an adapter for 12v DC receptacle (cigarette lighter) batteries and belt clips.

Best Hunting Radios I've Ever Owned

I bought a set of these radios 3 or 4 years ago. My hunting partner and I were so impressed with their range and clarity that he purchased another set and now we outfit our entire hunting party. They have been extremely effective in the mountains of Vermont and have saved us numerous trips when something caused us to need to contact other hunting party members.

    Volume

I had purchased GTX 2050 series long ago, I needed additional radios and found that the GTX 2000 series was no longer available. I have purchased several GTX 1050 and found out that the flaw to the "New and Improved" GTX 1050 is that my Speaker/Mic AVPH10 has a much lower volume output than the older model GTX 2050. I am sorry to say that in loud environments it is almost useless. If you use these for hunting volume may not be an issue but that is why you have a volume knob to give you more when you need it. Sad to say the volume issue was by design according to Midland.

    Above average radios

I haven't had a chance to use these extensively yet but very pleased so far. The FRS/GRMS flexibility id great and allows use of full power up to allowed limits. These have all of the features I need plus extras. I also ordered a base radio so we could keep track of our grandkids while camping.

QUESTIONS

1–10 of 31 Questions
  1. If I buy the gxt1050vp4 set is there a way to extend the range without the micro mobile?

    1answer
    1. No unfortunately there is not

  2. Do these radios transmit with regular frs radios? Most of my buddies have frs for road trip communications but I'd like to buy these for the added distance on hunting trips and want to make sure it's not going to be a pain or impossible to communicate.

    1answer
    1. Hello! While the GMRS Two Way Radios require an FCC License they will still communicate with FRS hand held radios.

  3. We use 6 GXT1000/1050 around our farm with great reaching performance. The kids think they are too big, so I'm considering the T290/295 series for them. Will performance be similar?  It's a 300 acre farm with rolling topo containing fields & forest.

    1answer
    1. Hello! Yes, the performance between the GXT1000 and the X-Talker T290 Series should be very similar. But as with all two way radios, any obstruction between radios can decrease range.

  4. I have read that Midland GXT950VP4 5-Watt has or is being discontinued (posted on an Amazon question).  Is this correct??

    1answer
    1. Hello, the GXT950VP4 has been discontinued for 5 years.

  5. If Im unable to leave my GXT1050VP4 radios in the base charger for the hole 12 hrs. Will this damage the battery? Thanks Joe.

    1answer
    1. No, this will not damage the battery. However, please insure that you charge the batteries at least 24 hours for the initial charge. After that you can take the batteries off of the charger before the 12 hours if need be. In addition, do not leave your radios on the charger for more than 12 hours. Doing so over time will damage the batteries.

  6. I have a set of GXT1050VP4 TWO-WAY RADIOS.  I see that in order to use the GMRS channels that a license is required.  Are there any channels on the GXT1050VP4 that do not require a license?   Are channels 23-50 the channels that dont require the license?

    1answer
    1. Hello, because the GXT1050 is a GMRS radio it requires a license to operate no matter which channel you are transmitting on. A GMRS license is $70 and covers you and your extended family for 10 years. Simply apply on the FCC website and you usually have your license within 48 hours.
